We always get Chinese Take-Out on the Wednesday Night before Thanksgiving, for dinner.

I always watch the Broadway Scenes on the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade with a Cold Glass of Milk and some warm cookies (good ones, not boxed) for breakfast. Have done that since I was a little kid.

I love warm cookies tradition!

I always watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! I wanted to either sit on the sidelines or be at the commentary booth! I still haven't totally given that up. The one year I didn't watch, featured both the Sumner High School marching band, of Sumner, Wash. (my high school, class of 2003), and Anastasia! I later looked up clips.

I hope you get to the parade someday, Tiffany!

Funny story, your "swimming pool" story not only reminds me of my dad, but also how he build them. He was a tooling engineer (which is why we even lived in Tucson, and I still live in Seattle), so his works had to be sound. I remember him showing me how to build the "walls" just right, so the gravy didn't spill over. You know, make sure the mashed potatoe walls were structurally sound. You told a story about how your son, Nicholas, though dancing around in cat costumes was normal. I thought having a parent wax excited about a building standing up, having five multiple sized levels, carrying around graph paper and horribly working pens, and making structurally sound gravy swimming pools, was perfectly normal.

I love these traditions!!! I want to olive box! (I’m guessing they’re not blue cheese stuffed 😂) wishing you and Ann a wonderful holiday filled with music and laughter and all the good stuff (plus lots of stuffing!) in times like these! ♥️🎶

You should try olive boxing- pitted olives for sure- I save blue cheese-stuffed olives for my martinis! Happy holidays to you!

OK, first of all, I can’t wait to hear this new song with those gorgeous words, just perfect for this year. Thank you. Second of all I hope to get tickets for the live stream on Saturday – what a great way to spend part of the holiday weekend! Third, the clip of you from the Macy’s parade is fabulous! How was the sound so good with you outside in the cold? I’m not thinking you were lip syncing but… Anyway, fabulous. OK, my tradition.

Growing up I lived next to a woman who owned the rights to a punch,Cohasset Punch to be precise. No one had ever heard of it. I was a kid, so I didn't get to taste it. It was served in a Chicago restaurant owned by her family.

When she made the punch at home, apparently it was twice as strong. She gave a party for the neighbors. All of whom got absolutely blitzed. I recall a philosophy professor passed out on her front lawn.

We had long forgotten about Cohasset Punch. The family let the trademark lapse.

I recently saw a list of suggested Christmas gifts. There it was Cohasset Punch, reborn at Binny's.

If I ever have a chance to have a drink with you I will make sure it is Cohasset Punch.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Liz! This newsletter is amazing. Thanks for sharing all your Thanksgiving traditions and food and I’m so excited about your new recording. There’s still my joy. I’ve loved the Kathy Mattea version for many years and I didn’t know. Melissa had her own recording. So I need to go about finding that. Bless you and your dear sister and all your family.

much love and appreciation, Galen.

Hi Galen. So glad you enjoyed this issue. You must hear Melissa Manchester's version. I LOVE Kathy Mattea's too. And Olivia Newton John's. Mine is very different- just voice and guitar. Hope you enjoy it!

It’s always a good day when I come home to find “Between Flights” in my mailbox.

Liz, the video of you and Nicholas at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade was wonderful.

I know you’ve received lots of requests for your next CD. I wanted to add a request to that list. There’s a beautiful song from

“The Fantasticks” called “They Were You”

My dad used to make us "swimming pools" too! The only reason I haven't passed on the tradition to my kids, 11 and almost 9, is because I hate gravy! Like, I can't even swallow the stuff. He did show my oldest, who has some memories of him, before he died, so that's special. That cocktail sounds amazing.
