I have tears imagining the beauty of this concert you conveyed so well. And how wonderful you were included in the video! What an unforgettable night to share! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I had the same reaction to a post of Johnny singing "How Do You Keep the Music Playing" for the last time - tears and a lot of emotional connection, which is what we all hope for as performers and audience members. He still sounded so beautiful. It must have been a thrill to be there. What a talent, and what a career. Thanks so much for sharing this. -Jenifer
Thank you for writing this. I saw Johnny in concert in January of last year. It was thrilling. He still had it all. What a talented, charming man. A true legend.
Liz, I'm so glad you and Dan and Nick were able to attend this final concert. I know you've spoken fondly of Johnny over the years and I remember how excited you were to sing with him. It's sad that he will not perform again, but what a legacy he has left behind. And how wonderful that the time you sang with him was a joyful moment over the years. Best to you all, Gabe
Thank you so much for sharing this personal and heartfelt commentary. As a young child I loved watching any show Johnny Mathis was on. Continued to follow him for years and adored him. Loved “Chances Are!” I’m so glad he shared his wonderful voice and being all these years, and I’m happy for you and your family that you were blessed to come full circle with him at that special performance.
Thanks for this Liz.I’m glad that you were able to experience this final concert. It must have been bittersweet. It will stay with you your whole life. Also loved your concert. You were never better which is a a major compliment
Tv. We definitely need a live CD from it . Safe travels.❤️❤️
What a fabulous event and so glad you and Dan and Nick were there to experience it! I love Johnny Mathis and his gorgeous voice. Thank you so much for sharing this event with us!!!
What a beautiful report of Johnny's last performance. I really felt like I was there with you. His final song, How Do You Keep The Music Playing, is one of my all-time favorite songs, and the perfect,Bud bittersweet, closing of this brilliant career. (I got tears in my eyes just reading this.)
My grandmother, Dorothy (Dolly) Richards, passed of dementia four years before my dad, and her youngest son, Joe. Shortly after Dad died, I read a beautiful series, "Fading into White," by Bob Massie, about his own father, Robert K. I know both of them, in fact, in large part, because of my love for Anastasia. Bob's parents, Robert and Suzanne, wrote "Nicholas & Alexandra," informed by Bob's and the family's challenges with Bob's hemophilia. It's bittersweet, I know. I'm biased, but September is a great month for birthdays 😁
Liz, you lead such a wonderful life. How amazing to have attended and be included in Johnny’s final concert. I saw a couple of clips on Facebook and I wasn’t even tempted to watch them after your brilliant description of your experience. I personally have often said that I hope I don’t know when my last concert will be. In fact, it may have already happened; a little surgery and months of relearning how to sing will determine that. I wish you the very best in your upcoming concerts. I hope someday your agent can get you booked at the Weinberg Center in Frederick, MD. It’s a beautiful facility restored to its former beauty as a movie palace. I can assure you the dressing rooms are nothing to write home about, but many of us have survived them. Keep up your wonderful work!
I’m very ‘misty’eyed reading this wonderful description of the evening. It must have been amazing to be there. Thank you Liz. And for Saturday night too! ❤️❤️
What a career! Thanks so much, Liz, for A) the good fortune to be free that night, and B) having the connections to make sure you were well taken care of for this momentous night! And, I'm so happy for Johnny and his fans, friends, and family that he got to go out on a quite literal high note!
Sounds like an extraordinary event. So glad you could witness such an icon. And he sang the perfect song—and a beautiful one—to conclude his concert. What a gift.❤️
