Great post Liz’ yes, go Knicks.!! Can’t believe you daw 2of your heroes the same night. They’re 2 of my favorites as well. Thanks for the song clips.❤️
I thoroughly enjoyed your reenactment of the hairbrush serenade to your crush, Bill, and I was especially amused when you pulled back the hairbrush for the money note. Mike & I are so envious of the Playbill cruisers going to Budapest with you, Ann & Christine! Wo. That's a dream line up. (We just returned from their cruise to Provence, which was big fun. Have a blast!) Hope you'll be in NYC the week of Dec. 8, but if not, we'll try to catch you another time. We are Warrior fans, but will be rooting for the Knicks tonight! All the best, Jenifer Tice
This is such a wonderful, joyful post, Liz! I remember those ‘69 NY teams so well! Loved hearing about your Dad and what a great thing to get to see (and sing for!) Bill. Loved the 5th Dimension, too.
I loved reading this and getting to know you a little better! Love that Marc Shaiman was involved! Met him in Sedona, AZ at the Film Festival this year where he signed my copy of his book. I have a fan-girl story about Vikki Carr. Almost a crush and certainly an idol of mine. I learned Spanish through singing her songs as a teenager. When she sang in Sedona in 2002(?), Donald O'Connor (who lived there at the time) bade me back stage to meet her. I brought my album from the teenaged years for her to sign. It is a cherished treasure. You should write a book like Marc did. It's a great read and you write so well, you should do it! <3
I love that you got to meet Vicki Carr and she signed your album. How lucky we are to have those treasures. And what a nice thing to say about my writing a book. Writing this newsletter is giving me more confidence in my writing.
This is a wonderful Between Flights post, and I loved all the songs we were able hear, especially "Wedding Bell Blues" with your hair brush! So much fun!
What if you wrote a chapter, then Ann wrote one to include one of her poems and you alternated the stories occasionally overlapping with when you were little and all the times you’ve worked together or in tandem? SO many people would want to read that!! I bet many famous people would want to write the forward. I’ve seen you individually and together several times, now. Love you both. But, seriously, too, you write so well, it could totally be on your own! Jeanie
I so enjoy these! Thanks especially for the impromptu "Wedding Bells Blues." Although I'm a Bucks fan, this week I'm saying "GO Knicks!"
I’m so glad. And thanks for rooting for the Knicks!
Superb Substack! Love this Liz - thank you. The songs are just lovely and so apt ❤️❤️
Thanks, Laura!
Sorry, Liz, my message sent itself too soon. I’m watching the Knicks/Spurs
game as I type. (It’s neck and neck at
the half.)
I’ve never seen “Ragtime,” but I’ve always
loved your version of “Back To Before.”
(I read Doctorow’s book years ago.)
Thanks again for “Between Flights.”
Thanks, Bob. I hope you get to see Ragtime someday. You would love it.
Liz, since the Celtics’ season sadly
ended, I’m rooting for the Knicks

Thanks, Mike!
What wonderful stories. Joshua Henry, BTW, is a lock.
I sure hope so!

Go Knicks! 🏀 xx
Thank you, Jolene! We have a lot in common!
This was great. I'm a bit disconcerted AI may know whose photos were on my bedroom wall as a youth. See you on the river cruise.
Ha! See you soon!

I always look forward to your Substacks. This one is no exception. It's great! All I can say is, "Go Knicks!"
